Director of Lancaster County Academy (LCA)

Description

We are looking for a dedicated Director to lead the Lancaster County Academy (LCA),
supervise student, staff and all program operations, and ensure students can grow and
learn in a safe and nurturing environment. This individual will be a strong, compassionate
leader who has experience setting and enforcing learning opportunities, academic
curriculums, and student services that help our students realize their full potential.
LCA is a unique high school option that empowers non-traditional students to earn their
high school diplomas. We offer a flexible, personalized learning environment where
students receive one-on-one support and self-paced instruction. Our unique features
include a hybrid learning mode, small class sizes, and school-to-work coursework. See the

Key Job Responsibilities:
• Manage staff and program operations, ensuring compliance with school rules and
policies.
• Oversee the daily, quarterly, and yearly management of the school curriculum and
student activities.
• Ensure proper funding is secured for education and the resources are used and
managed ethically and effectively.
• Set and manage school finances while adhering to an agreed-upon budget when
investing in new learning tools, technologies, and building upgrades.
• Assist with development of annual school calendar and school schedules.
• Evaluate staff for promoting increased student progress and program effectiveness.
• Plan and coordinate staff development.
• Interview and hire school staff.
• Stay up to date and comply with local, state, and federal education regulations.
• Build communication and rapport with the Joint Operating Committee,
Superintendent of Record, Business Manager of Record, and the participating
school districts, and ensure policies and procedures are set and achieved.
• Plan and facilitate meetings with the Joint Operating Committee, Superintendent of
Record and Business Manager of Record.
• Keep families and participating school district staff updated regularly on students’
attendance and academic progress as well as their movement toward attainment of
a diploma.
• Oversee implementation of school-to-work coursework.
The Director will work fulltime, Monday through Friday during the academic school year.
Summer work is more flexible and will be scheduled in conjunction with the needs of the
students and program (i.e. curriculum work, staff development).

Director Qualifications and Skills:
• Lead with integrity.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
• Excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, teachers and
administrators.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal education policies and regulations.
• Thorough understanding of how current learning and teaching styles affect
education, particularly the use of a non-traditional/personalized instructional
approach through hybrid learning.
• Strong creative thinking and strategic planning skills.
• Adept at resolving conflicts quickly and diplomatically.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• 3-5 years’ experience as a school leader or in a similar supervisory role.
• Current teaching license or certification.
• Pennsylvania Principal 7-12 certification or Principal K-12 certification.
• A master’s degree in educational leadership or equivalent preferred.
• Proven commitment to student welfare and educational excellence.
